Almost everyone wants to have a strong core, although most people hate the idea of doing 100 crunches every day. Did you know, doing crunches as your main core body workout probably won't give you the results you desire? It is important to mix up your core workouts. Using different exercises to strengthen your muscles will not only give you better results, it will keep you from getting bored with your workouts.
There are multiple body workouts you can do to strengthen your core that do not require any equipment at all. This means you can work out almost anywhere! At a local park, at home, in the aerobics room at the gym, wherever you feel most comfortable!
Some great body workouts include:
V-Ups
Flutter Kicks
Reverse Crunches
Superman Holds
Hip Raises
Russian Twists
These are great moves to do alone, or to up the intensity, you can add weights or medicine balls. Doing a 15 - 20 minute circuit two or three times a week will greatly improve core strength as well as endurance.
Circuit Example:
1 minute v-ups
30 second rest
1 minute flutter kicks
30 second rest
25 reverse crunches
30 second rest
1 minute superman hold
30 second rest
25 hip raises
30 second rest
20 russian twists (10 on each side)
30 second rest
Repeat
Adjust rest times to your physical ability, however they should not exceed 2 minutes. Keeping your muscles warm and your heart rate up will make your workouts more effective. Mixing up the order of the moves and adding weights are good variations to refrain from getting stuck in a rut.
These exercises are possible for anyone who has 20 minutes during the day. So get into some comfy clothes and start working your way to a stronger core today!
